PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hemostatic compositions.SOLUTION: The invention discloses a hemostatic composition comprising: a) a biocompatible polymer in a microparticulate form suitable for use in hemostasis, and b) one hydrophilic polymeric component comprising reactive groups. The combination of the biocompatible polymer in a microparticulate form with the one hydrophilic polymeric component provides a composition with improved hemostatic properties and with improved tissue adhesion. This is particularly suitable for wound treatment in which induction of hemostasis failed, e.g., at conditions with impaired hemostasis (e.g., after heparinization). The compositions according to the present invention improve hemostasis.
