To provide medical material management system and management method that allow a medical material to be managed accurately by simple input work, and thereby allow overstocking or understocking to be avoided.SOLUTION: A management system includes: a storage body 1 for storing medical materials 3； a plurality of storage parts 2 allocated to individual medical materials 3 in the storage body 1； an identification code 4 displayed in each storage part 2, which is in a hidden state when the medical material 3 is stored in each storage part 2； a reading device 7 capable of optically reading the identification code 4； and a data processing device 8 for identifying the consumed medical material 3 based on the identification code 4 read by the reading device 7.
