The invention relates to a novel extract from the resin of a plant of the genus Boswellia (Burseraceae). The invention further relates to a composition comprising the novel extract, in particular a pharmaceutical composition or a cosmetic composition, or a food supplement, a food or a beverage comprising the extract. Further, the invention concerns the use of the extract and the respective compositions, in particular the use of the extract or a composition comprising the extract in the cosmetic or therapeutic field as well as in food supplements. The invention also relates to the novel extract and the respective compositions for use in the treatment and/or prevention of a disease. A method of treatment and/or prevention of a neurodegenerative disease is further provided. A process is also provided, by which the novel extract is obtained.L'invention concerne un nouvel extrait de la résine d'une plante du genre Boswellia(Burseraceae). L'invention concerne également une composition comprenant le nouvel extrait, en particulier une composition pharmaceutique ou une composition cosmétique, ou un complément alimentaire, un aliment ou une boisson comprenant l'extrait. L'invention concerne en outre l'utilisation de l'extrait et des compositions respectives, en particulier l'utilisation de l'extrait ou d'une composition comprenant l'extrait dans le domaine cosmétique ou thérapeutique ainsi que dans des compléments alimentaires. L'invention concerne aussi le nouvel extrait et les compositions respectives pour leur utilisation dans le traitement et/ou la prévention d'une maladie. Un procédé de traitement et/ou de prévention d'une maladie neurodégénérative est en outre prévu. L'invention concerne également un procédé, au moyen duquel le nouvel extrait est obtenu.
