A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus comprises: a coil with a plurality of channels which receives a magnetic resonance signal generated from an object a data generating unit which generates image data under-sampled over a K-space based on the magnetic resonance signal and a recovery image generating unit which generates a first recovery image for the image data using a parallel imaging recovery method, and generates a second recovery image for the image data using a compressed sensing recovery method. By the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and the controlling method thereof, image recovery is performed using the image data of the random undersampling, and the parallel imaging method and compressed sensing, so the speed of image acquisition is increased and the quality of the image is also improved.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015자기공명영상장치는, 대상체로부터 발생되는 자기공명신호를 수신하는 복수의 채널을 포함하는 코일 상기 자기공명신호에 기초하여 k-스페이스(space) 상의 언더샘플링(undersampling)된 영상 데이터를 생성하는 데이터 생성부 및 병렬 영상(parallel imaging) 복원 방법을 이용하여 상기 영상 데이터에 대한 제 1복원 영상을 생성하고, 압축 센싱(compressed sensing) 복원 방법을 이용하여 상기 영상 데이터에 대한 제 2복원 영상을 생성하는 복원 영상 생성부 를 포함할 수 있다.이와 같은 자기공명영상장치 및 그 제어방법을 의하면, 램덤 언더샘플링랜덤(rando undersapling)의 영상 데이터 및 병렬 영상 방법과 압축 센싱을 이용하여 영상 복원을 수행하므로, 영상 획득의 속도를 증가시키고 영상의 품질 또한 개선케 한다.
