An interface device comprising a porous member 1030 to receive soft tissue and having a first and second region arranged such that in use the soft tissue is received across the length of the first portion and about the height of the second portion (Fig 1). The device may be for securing a prosthetic to the body and the porous members extends radially around a cap 1020. Preferably, the pore size of the first region is between 300 pm to 800 pm, and the height of the second region is substantially the thickness of the received soft tissue. The cap may comprise one or more ports 1012 forming cylindrical channels through the interface device and each comprising a predefined flange or rim. Wires for connecting to the tissue, sensors or other monitoring equipment can be passed through the ports and through the porous member if required. The porous member may vary in porosity from one area to another and may be tapered. It may be a square centred lattice.
