Examples of a compounds of formula (A) are: -(3-((2,6-imethylphenyl)ethynyl)phenyl)propan-1-amine 4-(3-(3-aminopropyl)phenyl)but-3-yn-1-ol 1-(3-(3-aminopropyl)phenyl)-3-ethylpent-1-yn-3-ol 1-((3-(3-aminopropyl)phenyl)ethynyl)-2,2,6,6-tetramethylcyclohexanol 4-((3-(3-aminopropyl)phenyl)ethynyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-ol 3-(3-(pyridin-4-ylethynyl)phenyl)propan-1-amine 1-(3-(2-aminoethoxy)phenyl)-3-isopropyl-4-methylpent-1-yn-3-ol and 1-((3-(1-aminopropan-2-yloxy)phenyl)ethynyl)cycloheptanol. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions comprising a compound of formula (A) and the use of a compound of formula (A) in the manufacture of a medicament. The medicament is useful for modulating chromophore flux in a retinoid cycle for the treatment of an ophthalmic disease or disorder in a subject and for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration or Stargardts macular dystrophy.
