Erythritol having a specific surface area greater than 0.25 m2/g, preferably greater than 0.3 m2/g, is granulated together with a binder selected from the group consisting of pregelatinised starch, microcrystalline cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, maltose, sorbitol, maltitol, xylitol, isomalt, and mixtures thereof.
