PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasound diagnostic apparatus capable of accurately measuring a local sound speed value of a low luminance region specified on a B-mode image.

SOLUTION: If a region R of interest is set on the B-mode image, the low luminance region L having luminance equal to or lower than a predetermined value in the region R of interest is detected, lattice points E1 are set at a position corresponding to a depth D1 shallower than the low luminance region L, and a lattice point E2 is set at a position corresponding to a depth D2 deeper than the low luminance region L. A transmission focus is formed at each of the lattice points E1 and E2, transmission and reception of an ultrasonic beam for sound speed measurement is sequentially performed, and reception data is captured. It is assumed that sound speed in a region between the lattice point E1 having a depth D1 and the lattice point E2 having a depth D2 is uniform, the local sound speed value of the low luminance region L is calculated using reception data for sound speed measurement.
