A method and apparatus for assisting walking of a user are provided. In order to assist the walking of the user, a pressure value applied to a sole of the user is obtained from a pressure sensor and acceleration information on the movement of the user is obtained from an acceleration sensor. A walking phase is determined based on the obtained pressure value and the acceleration information. An auxiliary torque corresponding to the determined walking phase is determined. A driving unit is controlled to output the auxiliary torque.사용자의 보행을 보조하기 위한 방법 및 장치가 제공된다. 사용자의 보행을 보조하기 위해 압력 센서로부터 사용자의 발바닥에 가해지는 압력 값 및 가속도 센서로부터 상기 사용자의 움직임에 대한 가속도 정보가 획득되고, 획득된 압력 센서 및 가속도 정보에 기초하여 보행 위상이 결정되며, 결정된 보행 위상에 대응하는 보조 토크가 결정되고, 상기 보조 토크가 출력되도록 구동부가 제어된다.
