Inasmuch as dental caries is considered an important health problem and being one of the most common diseases manifested in patients with different predisposing factors, the present invention relates to the use of a compound extracted from route chalepensis plant, specifically Thevenin, as a bactericidal agent. This compound significantly inhibits the growth of cryogenic bacteria Streptococcus mutants, which is very difficult to control, further of being the major causative bacteria of dental caries.La presente invención se refiere a un compuesto chalepensina extraído de Ruta chalepensis, para preparar un medicamento o composición farmacéutica anticariogénica destinado al tratamiento de la infección por Streptococus mutans principal causante de la caries dental.
