The invention is an animal bedding product composed of three elements. Thefirst element isshort-fiber cellulose derived from recycled paper mill residue. The secondelement is a limingagent such as kaolin clay or cement kiln dust. The third element is miscanthuscut to shortlengths. After most of the water is removed from the recycled paper millresidue, it is mixed withthe liming agent and the miscanthus to produce an animal bedding material.CLAIM1. The combination of short-fiber cellulose derived from recycled papermill residue mixedtogether with a liming agent such as kaolin clay or cement kiln dust toincrease pH togetherwith short fiber miscanthus.2. The combination defined in Claim 1, with the ratio of recycled papermill residue toliming agent to miscanthus being no less than 20:1:5.3. The recycled paper mill residue prior to mixing in the combinationdefined in Claim 1is pre-heated to a temperature of at least 60 degrees Celsius for a continuousperiod ofat least 7 days.
