PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizing method capable of suppressing the increase of the cost needed for a paracetic acid based sterilant, and facilitating a concentration management, and to provide a sterilizing apparatus.
SOLUTION: The sterilizing method for sterilizing a resin container for beverage or a resin cap for the container with the use of the paracetic acid based sterilant containing paracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and acetic acid includes: a chemical tank 3 for storing the paracetic acid system sterilant an outward pipe 9 for deriving the paracetic acid system sterilant from the chemical tank 3 to sterilizers 5, 7 a heater 19 arranged in the outward pipe 9 so as to heat the paracetic acid system sterilant and an inward pipe 11 for returning the paracetic acid system sterilant after usage in the sterilizers 5, 7 to the chemical tank 3. A cooler 21 for cooling the used paracetic acid system sterilant is provided at a middle of the inward pipe 11, and the cooled paracetic acid system sterilant is stored in the chemical tank 3.
