The method involves modeling a distal end of a femur associated with a knee in three dimensions to obtain a model of the distal end (10). The model is cut (20) according to planes passing by a common axis near to an instantaneous clevis pin of the knee. A trace of an external surface of the distal end of the femur is raised (30). A beam of direct curves is obtained (80) by raising the trace. The external surface is constructed (90) by interpolation of the direct curves. The modeling, cutting and raising steps are repeated for each individual in a sample of individuals.Linvention concerne un procédé de détermination dune surface externe dune partie fémorale dune prothèse dun genou, le procédé de détermination comportant les étapes de :- modéliser (10) en trois dimensions lextrémité distale dun fémur associé au genou pour obtenir un modèle de ladite extrémité distale - couper le modèle (20) selon des plans passant tous par un axe commun proche dun axe darticulation instantané du genou - dans chacun des plans, relever (30) la trace de la surface externe de lextrémité distale du fémur pour obtenir (80) un faisceau de courbes directrices - construire (90) la surface externe par interpolation des courbes directrices.
