A composition for preventing or treating a subject from an infection caused by Borrelia bacteria or Lyme disease, comprising a combination of polypeptides, in which each of the polypeptides in this combination contains an amino acid sequence with at least 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, or 99% sequence identity with the polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence described under SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 4 or SEQ ID NO: 6, or each of the polypeptides in this combination contains the amino acid sequence described under SEQ ID NO: 2, 4 or 6, wherein said composition is formulated as a unit dose of from about 10 μg to about 100 μg and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the composition is in the form of a standard dose of about 10 μg, about 20 μg, about 30 μg, about 40 μg, about 50 μg, about 60 μg, about 70 μg, about 80 μg, about 90 mcg or about 100 mcg. 3. The composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the composition further comprises an adjuvant. A composition according to claim 3, wherein the adjuvant is aluminum hydroxide. A composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the combination of polypeptides contains an equal amount of each polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence described under SEQ ID NO: 2, 4 or 6.6. A composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the composition is an immunogenic composition or a vaccine composition. The composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the bacteria of the genus Borrelia are a species of Borrelia sensu lato or Borrelia sensu stricto. 8. The composition according to claim 1, characterized in that bacteria of the genus Borrelia are species of Borrelia afzelii, Borrelia garinii, Borrelia bavariensis, Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto, Borrelia japonica, Borrelia andersonii, Borrelia bissettii, Borrelia sinica, Borrelia turdiii Borrie Borrelia lusitaniae, Borrelia spielmanii, Borrelia miyamotoi or Borreli
