PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe sterilizer capable of uniformly sterilizing various kinds of microbes without damaging the quality of a sterilization object such as food, pharmaceuticals, Chinese herbal medicines, cosmetics and seeds for seeding at a normal temperature and under a normal pressure without the need of a preprocessing and a post processing and without the problem of ozone depletion. SOLUTION: The sterilizer 1 comprises a power source part 2 for generating a high voltage and a processor 5 provided with a discharge side electrode 3 for applying the generated high voltage and a ground side electrode 4, the sterilization object 9 is arranged between the electrodes of the processor 5, a high voltage pulse is impressed between the electrodes, and the sterilization object 9 is sterilized at a normal temperature, under the normal pressure and in a gaseous atmosphere. A gas supply means 8 provided with many gas supply holes 7 is provided on the side of the ground side electrode 4, the gas is supplied from the gas supply holes 7, and the sterilization object 9 is floated and sterilized.
