The invention relates to a method for protecting honey bees from predatory insects (14), to a device (10, 100) for carrying out said method and to the use of a substance (48) for protecting honey bees. According to the invention, at least one of the insects (14) is captured and is at least partially immobilised. Subsequently, at one insecticidal substance (48), which adheres to the insect (14), is applied to one part of the body (15) in such a manner that the insect (14) can not completely remove the substance (48). Finally, the insect (48) is mobilised.
