The present invention relates to sustained release pharmaceutical compositions of donepezil or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The compositions of the invention are stable and provide sustained therapeutically effective plasma levels over a twenty four hour period with reduced incidences of cholinergic side effects.
