The present invention relates to glucommannan oligosaccharides andpolysaccharides that possess one or moreproperties selected from skin regeneration, wound healing and skinaugmentation. More particularly, the invention relates to the useof glucomannan oligosaccharides and polysaccharides for one or more of skinregeneration, wound healing and skin augmentationagents in a mammal. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical formulationfor treating skin of a subject comprising an activecomponent comprising glucomannan in a suitable diluent, excipient or physicalform such as dermal scaffold or sponge, the activecomponent being capable of promoting an accumulation of fibroblasts in theskin and stimulating production of collagen in the skin.
