Mangrove Betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase gene and the uses thereof in the researches of breeding new plant species having salt, drought and low temperature tolerances are provided. The mangrove betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase gene has the nucleotide sequence as shown in SEQ ID NO: 1. Utilizing the said mangrove betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase gene to construct prokaryotic expression vectors and binary plant expression vectors, transforming E.coli and tobacco respectively with the vectors, culturing BADH transgenic E.coli under high salt conditions, and conducting abiotic stress experiments on BADH positive transgenic tobacco. The mangrove betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase gene is highly expressed in E.coli, and under high salt conditions, the growth of BADH transgenic E.coli is better than non-transgenic E.coli. Transgenic tobacco identification results show that the mangrove betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase gene cloned can be highly expressed in tobacco, and the transgenic tobacco obtained has good ability to tolerate some abiotic stress.
