A no-orifice drug delivery device is provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a body having at least one water-permeable wall defining a reservoir defined in the apparatus. The drug formulation is placed in the reservoir. The body has an elastic portion and at least one restricting plug that closes the opening of the body. The opening is in fluid communication with the reservoir and the restraint plug contacts the resilient portion of the body and controls the release of the drug from the device by the temporary formation of one or more microchannels between the resilient portion of the body and the at least one restraining plug.
