A test sensor (360) for use in the determination of the concentration of an chemical in blood, the test sensor comprising:a housing having a disposable end cap (350) at a test end, the removable end cap including an aperture at the test enda test chamber (202) disposed within the end cap, the test chamber having an inlet (208) disposed adjacent to the aperture in the test end, the test chamber being adapted to collect blood through the inlet anda lance (203) disposed within the end cap of the housing and coupled to the test sensor, an actuation of the lance causing the lance to extend through the aperture of the end cap, the lance being disposable with the disposable end cap.
