PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system for an endoscope which lengthens the life of a light source by using a plurality of LEDs as a light source and which is easy to carry since a light source device can be simplified and miniaturized.SOLUTION: The illumination system for an endoscope is provided with the light source device and an endoscope removably connected to the light source device. The light source device includes a light source part provided with at least one emission surface having a plurality of solid light-emitting elements for emitting illumination light. The endoscope includes at least one of light receiving surfaces corresponding to at least one of the emission surfaces respectively, a light receiving part for receiving the illumination light emitted from the plurality of solid light-emitting elements, a light guide for waveguiding the illumination light received by the light receiving part, and a light distribution window for emitting the illumination light waveguided by the light guide. The light source device and the endoscope are connected by aligning at least one emission surface and at least one light receiving surface.
