It has been found according to the invention that spores can be killed with bispyridiniumalkanes. The invention relates, according to a first aspect, to the use of bispyridiniumalkanes for killing spores. According to a second aspect, the invention relates to bispyridiniumalkanes for use for killing spores. According to a third aspect, the invention relates to a disinfectant which comprises one or more bispyridiniumalkanes for use for killing spores. In a fourth aspect, the invention relates to a disinfectant which comprises one or more bispyridiniumalkanes for killing spores. According to a fifth aspect, the invention relates to the use of bispyridiniumalkanes in the production of a disinfectant for preventing contamination of the disinfectant with spores. In all embodiments of the invention, octenidine dihydrochloride is preferred as bispyridiniumalkane. If the disinfectant comprises alcohol, then the presence of one or more aromatic alcohols is obligatorily prescribed.
