PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the border line showing the boundary between a rendering processing scope and a region which is not used for rendering processing by determining the contour of an object.SOLUTION: The ultrasonograph includes: an ultrasonic probe a transmitting and receiving part which transmits ultrasonic waves toward a subject through the ultrasonic probe, receives reflected waves corresponding to the transmitted ultrasonic waves from the subject and generates received signals on the basis of the received reflected waves a cross-sectional image generating part which generates cross-sectional images of the subject on the basis of the received signals a search range setting part which sets several search ranges for searching for contour points on the contours of objects on the cross-sectional image and a contour point determining part which determines the contour points on the basis of the brightness value of pixels included in the search range.
