This invention relates to a steam management system (1, 2, 3) and a method of steam management using the steam management system (1, 2, 3) so as to generate steam with pressure between 400,000 Pascal and 700,000 Pascal for sterilisation of FFB. In one embodiment (1), an ejector (50) is provided to allow mixing of steam generated from a boiler (10) with exhaust steam from a steam turbine (20) to generate steam with abovementioned pressure range for feeding into steriliser steam supply pressure vessel (40). In another embodiment (2), a self-acting control valve (80) is positioned on a pipeline between the boiler (10) and the steriliser steam supply pressure vessel (40) to regulate the steam pressure in the steriliser steam supply pressure vessel (40) to the abovementioned pressure range. In yet another embodiment (3), a pressure control valve (90) modulated by a controller (70) is positioned on a pipeline between the boiler (10) and steriliser steam supply pressure vessel (40) to regulate the steam pressure in the steriliser steam supply pressure vessel (40) to the abovementioned pressure range. The steriliser steam supply pressure vessel (40) supplies steam to one or more sterilisers. The system (1, 2, 3) may be further provided with a de-superheater assembly suitably positioned in the system (1, 2, 3) for spraying water to de-superheat the steam intended to be introduced into the steriliser.
