PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which exhibits a high air permeability, hardly gets stuffy, keeps on absorbing by quickly responding to a large amount of excreted body fluid at one time and is soft with a comfortable fit.
SOLUTION: In the absorbent article having a surface sheet, a leakproof sheet and an absorber which is interposed between the two sheets and is formed of a foam material, the absorber has air bubbles which are distributed through it and has several holes which pass through from the side of the surface touching the skin to the side of the surface not touching the skin at least in its central excretion region. The average diameter of the air bubbles near the inner wall surface in the through-holes is smaller than the average diameter of the air bubbles which are farther from it.
