Bandages and methods of use for monitoring selected sites (eg, IV sites) of a patient are provided. The bandage includes a first portion, a second portion, a bridge portion and associated electronic circuitry. The first site is secured to the patient's skin on one side of the selected site. The second site is secured to the patient's skin on the other side of the selected site. The bridge part is expandable. The electronic circuit includes a sensing component (eg, a destructible electronic link or strain gauge) mounted on the bridge.
