The blank is used to manufacture parts in a processing machine with at least two tools in the operating chamber of the machine. The blank has a body (1) of dental restoration material, from which the part can be formed by material removal using at least one of the two tools. The blank has at least two gages (4,5) each in the form of a recess. The geometry of the recesses is such that the tool selected for the process is identifiable with at least one of the gages by its outer contour. The gages are arranged on the blank such that two tools can be driven into them simultaneously when the blank is fitted into the machine for processing.
