The current invention discloses a device for subcutaneously introducing a cannula of a subcutaneous infusion device into a patient, the device comprising a housing defining a cavity, a sleeve at least partially disposed in the cavity and having a first position and a second position relative to the housing along an axis, a site removably coupled to the sleeve and comprising the cannula and a biasing member interacting with the sleeve, wherein when the housing is selectively displaced in a first direction along the axis, the biasing member is deformed in a first manner and the sleeve moves along the axis from the first to the second position to introduce the cannula into the patient, the site thereafter being decoupled form the sleeve to remain on the skin of the patient.
