Tubular casting processes, such as dip-coating, may be used to form substratesfrom polymeric solutions whichmay be used to fabricate implantable devices such as stents. The polymericsubstrates may have multiple layers which retain theinherent properties of their starting materials and which are sufficientlyductile to prevent brittle fracture. Parameters such as thenumber of times the mandrel is immersed, the duration of time of eachimmersion within the solution, as well as the delay timebetween each immersion or the drying or curing time between dips andwithdrawal rates of the mandrel from the solution may eachbe controlled to result in the desired mechanical characteristics. Additionalpost-processing may also be utilized to further increasestrength of the substrate or to alter its shape.
