The present invention relates to modified release pharmaceutical composition for oral administration comprising a therapeutically effective quantity of an antimuscarinic agent, such as Tolterodine or pharmaceutical acceptable salt, derivative, prodrug and metabolite thereof, embedded in a core matrix wherein said core is coated with a release modifying layer system and a method for the preparation thereof.
