The present invention relates to an antibacterial composition for inhibiting causative bacteria of bacterial soft rot comprising an extract of Salicornia herbacea as an active ingredient. More specifically, the present invention relates to the antibacterial composition for inhibiting Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. Carotovorum (PCC) which is bacterial soft rot causing bacteria of a hexane fraction, a chloroform fraction, an ethyl acetate fraction, and a butanol fraction obtained from an ethanol extract of Salicornia herbacea, an agricultural crop protection agent comprising the composition, a food detergent comprising the composition, a food additive comprising the composition, and a method of controlling bacterial soft rot causing bacteria using the composition. Further, the present invention relates to a composition for proliferation inhibition or annihilation of PCC comprising the extract of Salicornia herbacea as the active ingredient. The antibacterial composition comprising the extract of Salicornia herbacea as the active ingredient according to the present invention can be usefully used as material for preventing soft rot diseases of crops by using a halophyte for natural medicinal purposes as a raw material and exhibiting a growth inhibition effect with respect to PCC as bacterial soft rot causing bacteria, i.e., antibacterial activities and sterilizing effects with respect to PCC.
