A concrete block for building walls and for reinforcing embankments and earth walls has a rectangular shape open at the top and bottom and with an optional insert base. The outer sides of the block are provided with patterns of ridges and grooves which are positioned so that adjacent blocks interlock. The sets of ridges/grooves are positioned near to the rounded corners so that curves can be constructed without loosing the grip between adjacent blocks.
