The invention provides a dental wedge (10) having a longitudinal axis (13) extending between first and second ends (14, 15) of the wedge (10), the wedge (10) including: a longitudinally extending base extending from the first end (14) towards the second end (15), with the base tapering towards the first end (14) and a gripping portion (12) attached to the second end (15) and providing surfaces extending generally transverse relative to said axis (13) and facing toward and away from said first end (14), and wherein the gripping portion (12) is spherical.
