PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bath additive which is an alkaline bath additive containing a carbonate which gives bathing effects such as keeping warm and recovery from fatigue and can prevent the rough surface of a bathtub by suppressing generation of scale comprising calcium carbonate, and to provide a method for suppressing scale which is generated in a bath.SOLUTION: The bath additive contains a carbonate as an essential ingredient and shows alkalinity when it is dissolved in a bath, wherein the bath additive is blended with trisodium phosphate.
