PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a keratin fiber, especially human hair, which is artificially dyed by a direct dye or an oxidation dye.SOLUTION: This method includes applying a composition containing at least one kind of protecting agent having a log P of not more than 6 to the keratin fiber, and further consecutively applying a heating iron having a temperature of not less than 60°C to the fiber.
