It is proposed that the control device (54) can be operated so as to derive from the signals of the sensor (62, 70) which topographical zone of a number of topographical zones of a field the agricultural machine (10, 410) is situated in in each case, and to activate the actuator (34, 46, 52, 84, 86, 436, 438, 442) as a function of the respective topographical zone.
