A handle assembly for a clip applier includes a housing having a stationaryhandleand a barrel supported on the stationary handle. The barrel defines a lumenhaving aproximal portion and a distal portion configured to releasably receive anadapter assembly. Ais operably coupled to the housing and includes a gripping portion and a stemportionmovable distally through the proximal portion of the lumen in response tomovement of thegripping portion towards the stationary handle. A plunger assembly isremovablypositionable within the proximal portion of the lumen and configured tooperably couple thestem portion with an adapter assembly such that distal movement of the stemportion actuatesthe adapter assembly. A plug is removably engagable within the proximal end ofthe barrelto retain the stem portion, the plunger assembly, and the adapter assembly inoperablerelation relative to one another.
