PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luer connection that seals off a male luer connector in a male-female connection so that users of the connector are protected from hazardous drugs that remain on a luer tip surface when disengaged.SOLUTION: The male connector 200 has two internal valves 206, 208 and vacuum-generating structures 212, 210, which are configured to draw back into the male connector any fluid residing on the interface between the male and female connectors during their disengagement from one another and to then seal the distal tip of the male connector. Both the valves are opened and closed by an actuator plug 224 that is moved with the front surface of a female connector. A resilient member 210 biases the male valves to the closed position and includes a variable internal volume 212 that creates a vacuum upon disengagement of the male and female connectors.
