The present disclosure provides novel compositions and methods for producing and using an Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain (eg, LBA 4404) that is deficient in RecA activity as compared to a parent strain. A combination with Agrobacterium tumefaciens other gene-deficient strain is also disclosed.
