PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide spacers or actuators for inertial removal of the non-respirable fraction of medicinal aerosols, and medicinal aerosol inhalers using them.SOLUTION: Medicinal inhaler spacers (100, 200) or actuators include chambers (130, 230) having proximal ends (132, 232) closed with proximal plates (140, 240), tangentially aligned inlets (110, 210) on the proximal ends (132, 232) of the chambers (130, 230), tapered distal ends (134, 234), and outlets (120, 220) extending through the proximal plates (140, 240) into the chambers (130, 230) and communicating with the chambers (130, 230). The spacers (100, 200) are used to increase the respirable fraction of the medicinal aerosol inhaler.
