An introducer assembly 10 for a branched stent/stent graft 30 comprises a proximal sheath 22, a distal sheath 20, and a splitting element [50, Fig 4] located at a proximal end 38 of the distal sheath 20 and arranged to split the distal sheath 20 in a distal direction, from its proximal end 38 to its distal end. This allows the introducer 10 to first deploy the branch element 32 of the stent 30 and thereafter the distal end of the stent 30. The proximal sheath 22 can then be retracted to release the proximal end of the stent 30. Deployment of the stent from the branch element 32 enables accurate positioning of the branch element 32 prior to deployment of the main body portion 40. A claim is also provided for a method of deploying a medical device, i.e. a stent/stent graft by means of an introducer assembly.
