PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heated humidifier for a respiratory gas which facilitates cleaning of the inside of a chamber while keeping stable humidification performance and achieving continuous operation.SOLUTION: A heated humidifier 100 for a respiratory gas for heating and humidifying a respiratory gas by making the respiratory gas flow inside a light-permeable chamber 3 where water is accumulated includes: a partitioning plate 13 (a columnar body) provided in a raised state in a central part of the chamber 3 a sensor 20 for detecting a height of the water accumulated in the chamber 3 by receiving irradiation light which is emitted in a horizontal direction from a light emission part 26 located outside the chamber 3 and travels through the inside of the chamber 3 while avoiding the partitioning plate 13 by a light receiving part 27 located outside the chamber 3 and an outer wall part 29 which is raised in a circumference of the chamber 3 to cover a part of a chamber outer circumferential part for blocking the entrance of external light from the chamber outer circumferential part to the inside.
