Ophthalmic multifocal lenses are worn in or on the human eye. The lens comprises an optic having a front and rear surface and a circumferential boundary. The optics have far field of view areas having a first refractive power and near field of view areas having additional power. The far field of view and near field of view areas include ring segments having one of the refractive powers radially bordering the other, more central area of the refractive power.
