PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate the calculation when measuring aberration by aberration measuring means, such as a Shack Hartmann sensor, using a method of differentiating a predetermined polynomial expression.SOLUTION: An aberration measuring apparatus for measuring aberration of return light from a subject illuminated with measurement light comprises: split means for splitting the return light into a plurality of beams detection means for detecting the positions of regions illuminated respectively with the plurality of beams storage means for storing, in an associated manner, the value of each term of an expression differentiating a predetermined polynomial expression, for each of measurement regions corresponding to the illuminated regions of the split means illuminated with the return light determination means for determining the measurement regions, based on the regions in the detected positions and acquisition means for acquiring the gradients of respective wave fronts of the plurality of beams in the measurement regions, based on the detected positions.
