An intraoral imaging device for tomographic imaging has an x-ray source with a primary collimator that defines the boundary of the radiation field. The transport device translates the x-ray source along a path for tomography imaging. The x-ray detector in the oral cavity defines the imaging area of the radiation field. The positioning device correlates the position of the detector in the oral cavity with the position of the secondary collimator. One or more radio-opaque markers provided on the detector attachment are coupled to the detector, and the one or more markers are obtained by associating the spatial location of the x-ray detector in the oral cavity with the location of the x-ray source. It is configured to adjust the line image, and the one or more markers are placed within a defined imaging area.
