A dressing 40 suitable for a tracheostomy tube (Fig. 1, 1) has a central opening 42 and a slit 43 extending from the opening to the edge 44 of the dressing. Two stiff elongate extensions 45 project from the dressing on either side of the slit. The extensions can be pushed/threaded under a sutured flange 25 of the tube so that the projecting ends can be pulled to draw the main part of the dressing under the flange. Perforations 47 in the dressing enable the extensions to be torn off the main portion of the dressing.
