There is provided a mixed mode chromatography method for separating a correctly folded form from an incorrectly folded form of a given protein. The method is particularly advantageous for separating incorrectly folded etanercepts and incorrectly folded etanercepts from the agglomerates at a commercially attractive yield that can provide an etanercept formulation with a very high purity in terms of accurately folded etanercepts compared to incorrectly folded etanercepts effective.
