The present invention relates to a new skin whitening usage of omeprazole and, more specifically, to a skin whitening cosmetic composition comprising omeprazole as an active component. The omeprazole compound of the present invention has excellent stability and effectively inhibits melanogenesis by mechanism of inhibiting expression and activity of tyrosinase, so the composition of the present invention comprising the same as an active component is used as a functional cosmetic composition by having an excellent skin whitening effect by controlling melanin without skin stimulation.본 발명은 오메프라졸(omeprazole)의 피부 미백의 신규 용도에 관한 것으로, 자세하게는 오메프라졸을 유효성분으로 포함하는 피부 미백용 화장료 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 오메프라졸 화합물은 우수한 안정성과 더불어 티로시나아제의 발현 및 활성을 저해하는 기작을 통하여 멜라닌 생성을 효과적으로 억제할 수 있으므로, 이를 유효성분으로 포함하는 본 발명의 조성물은 피부에 자극 없이 멜라닌 색소 억제를 통한 우수한 미백 효과를 나타낼 수 있어 기능성 화장료 조성물로서 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
