The femoral cap implant comprises an outer, spherical articulating surface (50), preferably polished, and an inner fixation surface (60). The inner fixation surface comprises a top surface (12), substantially orthogonal to a rotational center axis (42) of the femoral head resurfacing implant, a chamfer surface (14) extending downwardly and outwardly from the top surface, and an inner side surface (16) extending between the chamfer surface and a rim portion (20) of the femoral head resurfacing implant. The rim portion of the femoral head resurfacing implant is being defined by a smooth, steady transition from the outer articulation surface to the inner side surface of the femoral resurfacing head implant.
